One of the first times I'd heard of zines was in the context of fan-zines, with that sort of do-it-yourself fandom still interesting me. Because of that, I think I'd be neat to do a sort of fan-zine for humanity, made by an alien observer. It would be a fun way to satirize modern life, and a lack of text could easily by explained by a poor grasp on human communication- I could also use alien characters as decoration in some of the collages. I also think making collages using images that look corrupted, as if an alien were intercepting our signals, would be cool. I would like to preserve a do-it-yourself aesthetic for it, using photoshop to give the appearance of pasted text, since to a zine ain't a zine if it doesn't visibly appear homemade. I want to avoid the visually annoying white margins caused by printing solid colors on paper- perhaps I'll incorporate white margins into the design. I also want the zine to be larger than the one page zines- I just think they're too small to say anything.
